Organic Bath co. : Bath time will never be the same!

Greetings beauties!

I’m in the midst of the Giving Back series, which Organic Bath co. is a part of, but today I wanted to share my thoughts on 2 of their products I love and have been using for months.

Gianne Doherty, co-founder of Organic Bath co, is the very first to have reached out to me after having read my post on Depression. (Gianne, I hope you know how deeply you have touched my heart).

What can you expect from Organic Bath Co. ?

Simply put, Organic Bath co. is the fusion of 3 things:

  1. luxurious in quality;
  2. generous in amount;
  3. ethical in principles and values.

Even before venturing into the natural and organic niche, I never had any luck with bath and body products, they would transform my crocodile skin into alligator skin! Not cute!  I know now it’s because of the irritating ingredients.  The Organic Bath co. products are the first I’ve tried since switching to natural products.  I started with the Stress Less line, particularly, the body scrub which is made in small batches with Fair Trade ingredients. Organic Bath co. have their own Fair Trade certification and you can find the logo on every scrub of the brand.

From “Ouch” to “Wow!

Exfoliating…it used to be such a painful task for me, literally!  It meant:  “time to scrape my skin off”! I’m not exaggerating! I really didn’t take any pleasure in it. I mean, the purpose of proper exfoliation is to remove dead cells and dirt from skin, not remove its first 3 layers ! Right?!

My Powerhouse duo for softer skin!

My Powerhouse Duo: they work fine separately, but together, they transform my skin. I love it!

  • Stress Less Organic Body Scrub

This scrub has completely changed my view on scrubs and on the exfoliating process. Thanks to the Stress Less scrub, I now look forward to go in the shower and pamper myself.  It’s great to see that not only the scrub exfoliates properly, but it moisturizes simultaneously! That in itself is mind-boggling for me because I have such dry skin; I’m talking flakes, roughness, itching. So, this scrub is a skin savior!  What more can I ask!?  It’s a multitasking body scrub! And the scent! I feel like the calming and relaxing Lavender oils infused in the scrub are massaging and caressing my mind and soul! I’ve been using this scrub since April 2014 and I see a noticeable difference on my skin; it’s softer, younger-looking and more alive.  This is a product I don’t want to go without.  I also want to try the others, from the  RefreshMint, Naked, SubLIME, Zesty Morning and Java Jolt lines. Basically, I want ALL of them!

Ingredients: Fair Trade Certified™ Sucrose (Sugar)*, Prunus Amygdatus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil*, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot Kernel) Oil*, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Oil*, Essential Oil Fragrance*.  *Certified Organic Ingredients

  • Drenched Organic Butter (with Argan and Jojoba)

Now, that is pure “buttah” for the skin.  I use it after having exfoliated with Stress Less sugar scrub, while my skin is still damp. I used to hate having to wait for my cream/lotion to sink into my skin..This butter sinks in as you apply it, and it deeply moisturizes.  And guess what? No greasy feeling! No staining your clothes because the product is just sitting on your skin not wanting to sink in! I love it! With consistent use, my skin is getting smoother, softer, thanks to key ingredients like shea butter, argan and jojoba oils.  These are simple but effective ingredients that have been used for centuries to heal and protect skin. This product is a winner!

Note: Both products are vegan and gluten free.

Final thoughts…

These products are now an integral and vital part of my skincare regimen.  To say they have changed my skin and bath/shower ritual is an understatement!  I really thought I’d be stuck with dry, flaky, itchy, sand-paper body skin for ever, I thought I had to accept it.  Now, I have faith that my skin can be regenerated.  Now, I can be confident when the wind pulls my skirt up and my legs show! It makes me feel confident, more like ME!  Thank you Organic Bath co. !

I love Organic Bath co. for what it’s done for my skin, but most of all, for what it does for others.  Stay tuned to find out about their philanthropy in my series Giving Back!

You can purchase the Stress Less Organic body scrub (27$ US) as well as the Drenched body butter (29$ US) here.

What are your thoughts on Organic Bath.co?  I personally think their best is yet to come and we are going to see new and great things from them !

Until next time,

Giving Back: Kahina Giving Beauty

Greetings natural beauties!

“Beauty catches the eye, but kindness catches the heart.”

– Author unknown

Kahina Giving Beauty

I have started a series on the issue of Giving back and I’m featuring several brands who make it their mission to help those in need.  Obviously, when I think of green beauty and giving back, my mind goes straight to… Kahina Giving Beauty! The name says it all, giving back is the premise on which founder Katharine L’Heureux created her brand.

Fun fact about Katharine: her last name means “the happy one” in French.

A trip to Morocco

It all began in 2007, when Katharine took a trip to Morocco and fell in love with the story and the incredible power of argan oil.  She loved it so much, she decided to create a pure natural line of skincare in which argan oil would be at the heart of every product.  Kahina Giving Beauty was born.  We all know and love her products, we can all agree that her argan oil is the purest and of the highest quality, but I really want to focus on the humanitarian aspect of the brand.

Kahina, the Queen of Berber women

Did you know “Kahina” is the name of the Queen of Berber women?

What is unique about KGB (Kahina Giving Beauty) it’s that their philanthropy is directly connected to their product. Argan oil comes from the kernels of the argan tree and the process of extracting the oil can be time-consuming and labor intensive for the Berber women who work at it: it takes up to 8 hours to produce 1 liter of oil.  That’s a lot of nut cracking! Harvesting argan oil creates social and economical opportunities for the Berber women, and Katharine makes sure they are fairly compensated and treated with dignity.

It is clear to me that Katharine L’Heureux (means “Happy” in French, by the way) has developed a deep sentiment of reverence and admiration for her women.  That is the perfect example of a woman empowering other women…as it should be!  It doesn’t matter where you come from, women should be supportive of one another, and when you help women, you help children and families, that’s what a community is about!

Giving Beauty

Kahina Giving Beauty gives mainly through:

  • its own foundation, created by Katharine, where she donates money directly to the 46 women of her cooperative. Thanks to that foundation, her women and their families are able to get access to drinking water, something we take for granted everyday. Katharine also purchased sheeps so that the women would have dairy and wool for their weaving. The women also get solar ovens: so no argan tree is cut for firewood not to mention it’s also a safer alternative to smoky cooking fires that can contribute to diseases.

  • Education For All Morocco (EFA): this organization provides schooling for girls who wouldn’t have an education past 3rd grade because high schools are not financially accessible for their parents. The schools are also located too far from where they live. Thanks to the EFA, the girls in rural Morocco can complete their education, have free rooms in boarding houses, they also get school uniforms and academic material. As a high school teacher, I think Education is a right, not a luxury.  Please support this cause.  Note:  For the rest of September, when you buy KGB’s argan oil (30ml or 100ml), 100% of the profits go to EFA (only here).  Hurry! This could be your chance to try the brand, or just an opportunity to give…just because!

  • High Atlas Foundation: the mission of this foundation includes several projects to help disadvantaged communities in Morocco.  They address issues like organic agriculture, clean energy, youth and women’s programs, cultural diversity and more. Because the harvesting of argan oil insures an economic resource for Moroccan communities, KGB teamed up with the HFA to plant more argan trees. This initiative also protects the integrity of the nuts. They have planted 200 argan trees in  nurseries this year.

Kindness is beautiful…and always in!

For me, Kahina Giving Beauty evokes respect, kindness and unity.  I salute Kahina’s Givng Beauty’s mission.  It inspires me to do the same, I just want to get up and get out of my comfort zone. But as I’ve said before, giving back doesn’t have to be some grand gesture, it only has to come from the heart. This is a brand I want to support because it’s about women, it’s about giving, it’s about being open to others and…it’s about skincare! My favorite things! Now, I know everytime I buy one of KGB’s product, it will be absolutely life-changing for my own skin, but mostly for women in Morocco.

Warm Regards,
